For the two current-gen consoles, AC Unity Patch 4 is out now and available to download, but PC players will continue to wait, as the patch won’t release until later this week. A reason for the longer wait wasn’t given, which is no doubt frustrating to that player base. On the bright side, they will be able to better brace themselves for the size of the patch, which comes in at a heft 6.7 GB.
Now that sounds a bit large for a simple patch - because it is - but Ubisoft explains that the size is a result of the dev team replacing entire sections of Unity’s Paris map.
Furthermore, and unlike the initial announcement of the patch’s first release, Ubisoft actually posted a sizable list detailing all the contents of the patch. The included fixes tackle gameplay, online matchmaking, the HUD and more things that will hopefully please AC Unity players still invested in this franchise entry. Here’s a sampling of the notes:
Interestingly enough, fixes unique to the PC are also included in the patch notes, despite the lack of a date for that specific patch. Although, we expect Ubisoft will have something to say about the patch before the week’s out - be it a release date or plans to delay it even further.
-Fixed numerous random crashes both on Campaign and Coop
-Implemented multiple optimizations and fixes to improve overall performance
-Fixed save issue caused by the companion app on the main menu (loss of data)
-Fixed save issue caused by contacts list (crash occurring). Users should now have access to save
Gameplay (navigation, fight, stealth)
-Fixed various navigation issues
-Fixed issues with lock picking chests
-Fixed additional haystack issues
Character, AI and Crowd
-Fixed various character, crowd station and NPC issues
If you’ve managed to install the patch already on your preferred console, have you noticed any improvements? How many of you gave up on the game and moved on? It’d be an understandable decision to make a month later.
