With the plethora of options available to gamers, studios are trying new tactics to snag gamers before the holiday sales season comes to a close. Sledgehammer Games, the lead development studio behind Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, is trying something new this year by offering a new, limited-time game mode for players, called “One Shot.”
While the new game mode is an interesting choice because of Call of Duty’s controversial history with quick-scoping snipers, it’s sure to still excite Call of Duty veterans and beginners alike. It may even gain the same excitement that knife-only game modes - often created by the players - have had in the past. And considering the fact that all players will be using five slight variants of the MORS bolt-action sniper rifle, and that there are no other primary weapon options or secondary firearms available in the game mode, players will quickly learn where they sit in the hierarchy of sniper ability.
The sniper experience is sure to be quick-paced and exciting considering the loadouts – which are preset for the game mode – were developed by Matthew Haag, better known as OpTic NaDeSHot, a professional Call of Duty player and YouTuber. Haag is one of the best-known Call of Duty players in the world and is the current captain of the OpTic Gaming Team, which participates in pro Call of Duty competitions around the world. Haag is especially recognized for his skills with a sniper rifle in the games, as well as being an X Games 2014 gold medalist and 2011 Call of Duty XP World Champion.
The highly specific game mode is sure to draw a decent crowd, but for those who would rather hang on to their assault rifles and pistols, don’t worry. In addition to the introduction of One Shot, Sledgehammer Games also announced double XP for Advanced Warfare players from Friday, December 26 at 9AM PST through Monday, December 29 at 9AM PST. There’s no word on whether the game mode will be a regular option in the future, so we recommend taking advantage now.
If you think you have what it takes to excel in One Shot, take a look at the loadout options below, and jump in.
What do you think of a sniping-only multiplayer game mode for Advanced Warfare? Do you think the NaDeSHoT’s loadouts are the best options? Sound off in the comments.
