When is Altered Carbon: Resleeved out on Netflix?
The release date for the Altered Carbon anime spin-off on the streaming service is Thursday, March 19. As with most Netflix releases, Resleeved is expected to be out at one minute past midnight PT (3:01 a.m. ET). Unlike the regular Altered Carbon, Resleeved is a one-off movie. Though Netflix has not released the runtime of the animated movie, according to IMDB it is around an hour long.
Who is in the cast of Altered Carbon: Resleeved?
Though none of the voice cast for the original Japanese version or the English dub of Altered Carbon: Resleeved have been revealed, we know that the main character of the show will be back. As confirmed by the Netflix synopsis, Takeshi Kovacs will reappear in the new season.
That does not mean, however, that Lee, Kinnaman or Mackie will necessarily be back to voice the character. As fans of Altered Carbon know, characters have the ability to transfer digital versions of their consciousness (or DHFs) into new bodies (or artificial “sleeves,” hence the title Resleeved.) As such, it is likely that in this spin-off we will see Kovacs in a new body. A number of new characters are also hinted at in the plot synopsis for the series.
Behind the scenes, there is also some major anime talent. The movie, for example, is being written by Dai Sato, the writer behind content like Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Cowboy Bebop).
What is Altered Carbon: Resleeved about?
The official Netflix plot synopsis for the show reads, “This anime feature spin-off, set in the same universe of the Netflix original live-action sci-fi series (second season in production from Skydance Television), will explore new elements of the story mythology.”
The summary on Netflix’s website gives fans more of an idea of what they can expect from the show. That reads, “on the planet Latimar, Takeshi Kovacs must protect a tattooist while investigating the death of a yakuza boss alongside a no-nonsense CTAC.”
Netflix so far has not released a trailer for Altered Carbon: Resleeved, but we will update this article if and when it does.
We also do not know at what point in Kovacs’ timeline the show is set in, but most likely it is set in the years between Season 1 and 2, when he was on the search for Quell (Renee Elise Goldsberry) for a number of years, or before Season 1 when he got his Kinnaman body.
