Players can now swim and dive to discover new sea creatures, but there’s one specific creature that gamers will want to find: scallops. Finding just one scallop will initiate an encounter with Pascal, a new character in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Pascal will be glad to trade scallops for other goods like pearls, DIY Recipes and more. Read on to learn how to find scallops, pearls and what our friendly otter wants to trade.
HOW TO FIND SCALLOPS
Scallops, like other sea creatures in New Horizons, can be found by diving where there are shadows in the water. We actually find it easier to look for the bubbles rising to the surface, though, and then diving to find whatever sea creature is there.
Scallops can be found randomly, and from our own experience they aren’t found so easily. However, if you keep swimming and diving you’ll eventually find them.
This creature can be donated to Blathers in the museum, and can be sold in the Nook Shop. But when you find your first one, you’ll meet Pascal.
PASCAL TRADING
Players will meet Pascal once a day. When you find your first scallop of the day, Pascal will immediately appear to ask if they can have it. You can give it to him to obtain one of a few items at random.
A pearl is the first item, which is used to craft items from the Mermaid Set that is introduced with the summer update.
The other is Mermaid clothing and the final is one of the Mermaid DIY Recipes. Here is the list of DIY Recipes that can be obtained from Pascal:

HOW TO GET PEARLS
Pearls, like Gold Nuggets, are extremely rare and players will want to find as many as possible to craft every piece in the Mermaid Set. Each piece of this set needs at least one Pearl to make, but players will soon find that it takes patience and a lot of luck to find them.
This item can be obtained via Pascal once a day, or by simply diving and picking one up from the ocean while diving. If you thought scallops were rare, good luck finding these pearls.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now for Nintendo Switch.
