Summer Update Wave 2 is scheduled to release July 30 and bring new online features to the popular Nintendo Switch title. Watch the trailer below and continue reading for all the details.

The first new feature will be the fireworks shows. These shows will light up the sky of your island every Sunday in August, starting at 7 p.m. local time. Players will be able to redeem Bells for raffle tickets in the plaza to receive various festive items to celebrate with.

Players will also be able to customize the design pattern of the fireworks so they can see them in the sky.

Dreaming is the second new feature coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This online feature lets players take a nap in any bed placed in their home. While you sleep, players may find themselves in a strange realm where Luna will be there to greet them.

Luna will offer visits to other islands as a dream and you can share your island as a dream with others, too. This “Dream Address” allows players to exchange and visit each other’s island in dreams. In the dreams, nothing remains permanent and nothing is saved, so players will be able to do whatever they want on other islands.

Also, a highly requested feature, Island Backup and restoration, is finally coming to New Horizons. Nintendo Switch Online members can enable island backup service, which automatically uploads island and user save data to the internet at certain times. This is crucial is your Nintendo Switch is lost, stolen or damaged, as this service will allow players to recover their save file as long as they’ve enabled island backup.

Players will need to contact Nintendo Customer Support about restoring the island and user save data on their new or repaired Nintendo Switch. Once restored, players can continue to enjoy island living.

Additional details can be found on the Nintendo Consumer Support page when the update goes live.

It should be noted that this feature is separate from the Save Data Cloud functionality offered for Nintendo Switch Online members. A function specific to moving users and save data from New Horizons to another system is planned for later this year. Details will be announced in the future.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now for Nintendo Switch.
